Dog Food Topping - used in combination with Commercial Kibble
I am sharing what I cook for my dogs and I use this in combination with dry kibble. When cooked I use1/2 cup of cooked product to every two cups of dry food.
I use a 20 quart stock pan for this recipe. If you want to use only 1/3 of this recipe use a 8 quart stock pot, or for 1/2 recipe use a 12 quart stock pot.
6 cups either white or brown rice(or 1/2 of each)
1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
2 lbs chicken liver
2 lbs turkey or chicken(thighs) or ground beef(on occasion I use ground lamb and/or ground pork)
3 cans of Tuna in oil or 1 can of Salmon
6 small or 4 medium sweet potatoes or yams
1 lb carrots
1 lb cranberries
6 Roma tomatoes
1 green squash or 1/2 lb of broccoli( I switch off)
1 cup of fresh green beans or peas
1 bunch of parsley
1 lb of celery
1 medium yellow onion
1 head of garlic
6 Table spoons of vegetable oil 1 tablespoon Cod Liver Oil
*********************************************************************************
1 cup of oatmeal 1/2 teaspoon of Comfrey
3 bags of green tea 1/2 teaspoon of Nettles
1/4 cup of wheat germ 1/2 teaspoon Raspberry leaves
2 tablespoons of Flax Seed Meal w/Lignans 1/2 teaspoon spearmint or peppermint leaves( 1 bag tea)

2 1/2 cups water per cup of rice
Add 1/2 water to stock pot, add Cayenne Pepper, bring to a boil, cook chicken livers and other raw meat.
Cook the livers and meat for 15 minutes, remove meat and either chop into small pieces or run through a food processor. Add the other half of the water to stock pot, bring to a boil.
I wash the vegetables and do not peel them. I remove the ends of the onion and remove the cloves from the garlic and leave the skins.
While cooking the meat, run all of the vegetables , fruits, onions and garlic through the food processor, chop into very small pieces.
Add the livers, meat and tuna, fruits, and oils. Bring to a boil over a medium heat(otherwise mixture will stick to the bottom of pan), when mixture reaches a boil turn to low, cover pot and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Add oatmeal, herbs and remaining ingredients, simmer for five more minutes and turn off the heat.
Let stand for an additional half an hour. Before refrigerating, stir the mixture to help dissipate the heat.
It is important to make sure the center of the mixture gets cold in a couple of hours. In the winter I set my stock pot outside and stir every 10-15 minutes until all of the mixture cools down. In the summer time I often pour the mixture into several large metal bowls to sufficiently cool down before refrigerating.
